Alabama's Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, Feb. 21- Feb. 23, 2025

Alabama's Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, and ends at midnight on Sunday, February 23, 2025. This event allows our residents to purchase certain severe weather preparedness supplies free of state sales or use tax.  

During this time, residents are encouraged to stock up tax-free on common supplies costing less than $60 that every home and business needs to prepare for a natural disaster or even a general emergency. Generators costing $1,000 or less can also be purchased free of the state's four-percent sales tax during the three-day tax holiday. The Autauga County Commission unanimously passed Resolution in January 2013 to annually participate in the Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday.  To see a complete list of tax-free items see below:
