11/14/2023

Autauga County Commission Chairman Jay Thompson and Vice-Chairman John Thrailkill were honored to join state and local elected officials, and community leaders from Autauga County, Autaugville and Prattville, at HomePlace Farm for a proclamation ceremony, proclaiming November13-17, 2023, Farm City Week in Autauga County, and our communities.

“Agriculture and farming have always created a strong economy throughout the Autauga County region, from providing food for our table, fiber for clothing, and timber grown in Autauga County used by International Paper to make shipping boxes for Amazon. The economic impact is evident both locally and on a global scale,” said Chairman Jay Thompson. “This is a week to honor and celebrate the farmers and their families who make Autauga County an even better place for us all.”

For the past 40 years, the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce Farm City Committee has brought our communities together every year to celebrate our local farmers and the importance of agriculture as the foundation of our local economy!  The week-long celebration will end with the Annual Farm City Banquet being held on Thursday, November 16th from 6-8 PM in Autaugville at the R.H. Kirkpatrick Arena.

Farm City Committee Chairman Mike Lamar said, “Our Farm City Banquet is a time that we can gather our agricultural producers and our business people in the county together for a night of food, fun and fellowship, it gives us a greater appreciation for what each group does and how they help each other.”

Everyone is invited to come enjoy this evening celebration honoring the rich agricultural heritage of Autauga County and our communities. This family fun filled night also includes a delicious steak dinner prepared by Karen Tucker Catering.

Tickets are required and can be secured by calling the Chamber at 334-365-7392.
