Autauga County Proclaims April 12-18, 2026 as Extension Week
4/8/2026

The Autauga County Commission officially proclaimed April 12–18, 2026, as Extension Week in Autauga County, presenting the proclamation to Extension Director Darrue Fank in recognition of the organization’s longstanding service and impact.

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System, founded in 1915, serves as a primary outreach and engagement arm of Auburn University and Alabama A&M University. Through research-based education and practical solutions, Extension continues to strengthen communities across the state.

In Autauga County, Extension plays a key role in supporting agriculture, natural resources, workforce readiness, and family well-being. Programs such as Alabama 4-H engage youth in leadership development and hands-on learning opportunities, reaching thousands of students each year.

“Extension is a key driver in strengthening both our economy and our communities,” said Chairman Jay Thompson. “From supporting agriculture and small businesses to developing our future workforce through 4-H and education programs, their impact is felt across every part of Autauga County.”

Extension’s work also includes supporting small businesses, promoting environmental stewardship, and providing valuable resources to residents through local programs, publications, and community partnerships.

The Commission expressed its appreciation for Director Fank and the Extension team for their dedication to improving the quality of life in Autauga County and for their continued commitment to serving the community.
